REACH Registration List

All chemical substances that are manufactured in or imported to the EU in quantities of more than one ton per year must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) as per European Regulation 1907/2006/EC. Registrants have to specify all identified uses for which their registration applies and perform an exposure assessment which will cover the whole life cycle of the substance. Only chemical substances registered in this way will be allowed to be used in the EU.

Methyl Mercaptan

Methyl mercaptan is the largest volume mercaptan produced in the world. By far the single biggest use is for production of synthetic methionine as a chicken feed supplement. Methionine is an essential amino acid for building protein.
