31 Students Recognized with Scholarships by Chevron Phillips Chemical

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 30, 2007) The burden of college expenses was lightened for thirty-one students who were recently presented scholarships by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) for the 2007-2008 school year as part of the company's dependent scholarship program.  This annual scholarship program offers a total of 30 new scholarships to employees' dependents, including 25 undergraduate scholarships and five graduate scholarships.  The scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years contingent upon satisfactory academic performance as a full-time student and can be used at any accredited university.

"Education is a top priority at Chevron Phillips Chemical," said Linda Koenig, manager of government and community affairs. "We are proud of the successes of our employees' children and are pleased to invest in their future through this scholarship program."

The selection criteria for the scholarships includes students' academic records, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside recommendation by an advisor, teacher, or employer.

The new scholarship recipients join 75 existing employees' dependents who are currently benefiting from Chevron Phillips Chemical's scholarship program. The company will award a total of $210,000 in scholarships during the 2007-2008 school year.

Additionally, the recipient of the Rodney Gott Memorial Scholarship was announced. Mattie C. Carl, of Orange, Texas received a $5,000 scholarship for the 2007-2008 school year.
