The Adventures of Max McDaniel, Boy Chemist

Max McDaniel, 77, Chevron Phillips Chemical’s longest serving research chemist and 2024 recipient of the Perkin Medal, was living in the Sahara Desert, North Africa, when he developed his life-long passion for chemistry, especially catalysts. McDaniel delivered these remarks at a Sept. 9 ceremony in Philadelphia honoring his achievements.

Chevron Phillips Chemical to Purchase Neste Oil’s PAO Plant in Belgium

Chevron Phillips Chemical has entered into an agreement to acquire a polyalphaolefin (PAO) plant located in Beringen, Belgium, from Neste Oil.

CPChem, QatarEnergy finalize financing on Ras Laffan, Qatar, petrochemicals project

DOHA, QATAR – Ras Laffan Petrochemicals, a joint venture company owned by Chevron Phillips Chemical and QatarEnergy, announced today that it has secured $4.4 billion to finance an integrated polymers facility to be located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.     The project financing comprises commercial and Islamic lenders and a group of export credit agencies.    

New Plant Manager Appointed to Chevron Phillips Chemical’s Orange Plant

Chevron Phillips Chemical announced the appointment of Wayne McDowell as plant manager of its Orange, Texas, polyethylene manufacturing facility. McDowell replaces Don Sitton, who has elected to retire after 32 years of service.
