Ron Corn discusses industry growth, middle-class expansion with BIC Magazine

Ron Corn, Senior Vice President, Petrochemicals

Petrochemicals Senior Vice President Ron Corn spoke with ICIS on the product advantages offered by Chevron Phillips Chemical's Aromax® Technology during the 2019 International Petrochemical Conference (IPC) by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers. Corn explained the technology helps upgrade low-octane paraffins borne out of shale oils as well as converting C6 and C7 molecules into a high yield of benzene, together with toluene and hydrogen. Benzene is an important intermediary used in chemicals for the construction and transportation sectors, among multiple others. When blended into gasoline, toluene acts as an octane booster. Corn also spoke about the market's reaction to the company's U.S. Gulf Coast Project and the implications behind the increase in midstream capacity coming online to ease bottlenecks in U.S. shale production.
