Chevron Phillips Chemical Strives for Environmental Excellence

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 7, 2008) - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (Chevron Phillips Chemical) named its Orange Chemical Plant in Orange, Texas, the recipient of the company's top 2008 President's Environmental Award for superior environmental stewardship efforts. Twenty-three additional company sites earned environmental honors as well.

We operate in 35 communities around the world, and we take our responsibility to each of these communities seriously," he said.

Chevron Phillips Chemical established the President's Environmental Award as a way to recognize its global facilities for exemplary environmental performance. The award recognizes both chemical and non-chemical operations and emphasizes environmental leadership, efficient stewardship of natural resources as well as energy conservation, and waste reduction. This is the third year of the company's recognition program, which acknowledges facilities that are demonstrating environmental stewardship. 

The Orange Chemical Plant received the company's top environmental honor for 2008 by demonstrating environmental leadership beyond compliance, sustained pollution prevention results and serving as a model to the public and others in the industry.

Harmony Environmental Award

The Harmony Environmental Award recognizes chemical and non-chemical manufacturing facilities that achieve environmental improvements in pollution prevention and regulatory compliance, as well as those that gain economic synergies as a result of these improvements.
