Chevron Phillips Chemical to Relocate its Orange Technology Center

ORANGE, TEXAS (October 31, 2008) - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) today announced plans to relocate services provided by the company's Orange Technology Center to its Plastics Technology Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The move will combine the team providing technical service for the film and coatings segment of the polyethylene market with the technical service molding and durables polyethylene team in Bartlesville. Once complete, the move is expected to enhance the array of expert technical services that Chevron Phillips Chemical provides its customers.

Relocation of the Orange Technology Center will not affect the manufacturing capabilities of the Orange Plant, which is located on the same site as the Orange Technology Center. The plant produces high-density polyethylene.

"This consolidation of our technical centers will make us more efficient and it is expected to result in more opportunities to share best work practices, enhance communications and improve overall teamwork," said Dave Smith, Chevron Phillips Chemical vice president of polyethylene.

Company officials are currently evaluating options for the employees assigned to the Orange Technology Center including redeployment within the company and relocation packages. The company expects to relocate or redeploy the majority of the affected employees.
