As the original pioneer in the PPS fiber market, Chevron Phillips Chemical's predecessor, Phillips Petroleum Company, spun its first fiber in 1973. After nearly 30 years of innovations in the fibers market, the company exited the business in 2000 when the Chevron Phillips Chemical joint venture was formed. Nine years later, Chevron Phillips Chemical is poised to recapture its share of the fibers market with three new PPS resins, specifically formulated for fibers. In a break from its competitors, Chevron Phillips Chemical only functions as a resin supplier; the company is not involved in fiber spinning or filter bag production.

Chevron Phillips Chemical also offers exceptional technical support, complete with a fully operational plastics technical center and pilot polymerization plant for product and process development. In addition, the company produces and tests its resins on its in-house, lab-size multifilament line.

Ryton® PPS has excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance in fiber applications. As an inherently flame retardant material, Ryton® PPS is well suited as a filter media for harsh environments such as hot liquids and gases, fuel, and oil filtration applications. With a strong history of success in the fiber market, Chevron Phillips Chemical is ready and able to assist with the most challenging endeavors.
