Chevron Phillips Chemical Company Receives 2007 Grand Slam Award

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (June 3, 2008) - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) has been awarded the 2007 Grand Slam Award by the American Association of Railroads. The award is given to companies that achieve the highest level of safety in the transportation of hazardous materials by rail. Only companies recognized by at least four Class 1 North American railroads for having zero non-accidental releases (NAR) in a one year period qualify for this award.

"While the corporate commitment to preventing NARs is critical to the company's distribution safety performance, the credit for this award goes to the employees who load, unload, inspect and maintain our cars," said Steve Vandermolen, Chevron Phillips Chemical global security specialist. "It is on their behalf that we accept this award."

This achievement is significant, given the number of railcars used at Chevron Phillips Chemical's facilities throughout the United States and it was made possible by the company's overall commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
