Chevron Phillips Chemical Announces New Synfluid® mPAOs

Chevron Phillips Chemical Synfluid quick facts

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (February 15, 2011) - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) will begin producing 40 cSt and 100 cSt high viscosity polyalphaolefins this quarter. The products are derived from non-decene alpha olefin feedstocks and based on proprietary Chevron Phillips Chemical metallocene technology.

"Over the years customers have asked us when we would produce high viscosity PAO and we said we would do it when we had something unique to bring to the market," said Jim Herman, PAO global business manager for Chevron Phillips Chemical. "We feel confident that these new products meet that test and will allow formulators to better meet application challenges than they have been able to in the past."

Chevron Phillips Chemical's metallocene polyalphaolefin (mPAO) base oils offer significant pour point and viscosity advantages, providing formulators with two new products that can be used in high viscosity PAO applications.
The products will be marketed under the Synfluid® PAO brand, and evaluation quantities will be available in the second quarter 2011. Initially, the products will be sold in drum quantities, but production is targeted to extend to bulk capabilities in the second half of 2011.

Synfluid® mPAO 40 cSt and Synfluid® mPAO 100 cSt are well-suited for a variety of automotive and industrial applications including gear oils, greases and automotive lubricants.
