CPChem has been recognized with the 2025 Union Pacific Pinnacle Award, an honor that highlights the company’s continued focus on the safe transportation of materials by rail. The annual award recognizes customers that demonstrate strong preventive practices and achieve zero non accident releases of regulated hazardous materials shipments, aligning safety performance with operational reliability.

This marks the eighth time CPChem has received the Pinnacle Award, reflecting a sustained focus on safety, operational discipline and reliable rail transportation.

Preventing issues before they occur

Safe rail transportation depends on disciplined practices and attention to detail throughout the shipping process. CPChem’s approach emphasizes prevention, helping ensure equipment is ready, procedures are followed and shipments move safely through the rail network. These efforts support reliable supply chains while caring for communities. Employee next to railcar

Union Pacific’s Pinnacle Award recognizes customers that implement release prevention protocols and corrective action plans, reinforcing the shared responsibility between railroads and their customers for safely moving materials.

Teamwork behind the performance

CPChem’s recognition reflects the combined efforts of teams across its rail operations. Rail Fleet Maintenance teams inspect and maintain the company’s railcar fleet before cars enter the rail network, while plant loading teams carefully secure valves and fittings during loading to help prevent issues in transit. Together, these teams support safe and reliable rail transportation through consistent attention to detail and disciplined work practices.

“Our teams take pride in doing the right work the right way, every day,” said Samantha Norris, Rail Services Manager. “This award reflects the collective effort across our rail fleet maintenance, and plant operations to support safe and reliable rail transportation.”

A continued focus on safe and reliable rail transportation

Union Pacific recognized 138 companies with the 2025 Pinnacle Award, highlighting strong industry wide commitment to rail safety. According to Union Pacific, 99.99% of hazardous materials shipments transported by U.S. freight railroads arrive safely, demonstrating the effectiveness of prevention focused programs and collaboration across the industry.

Earning the Pinnacle Award reinforces CPChem’s role as a trusted rail partner and reflects the continued commitment to operating safely and responsibly in support of customers and communities.
