Why Select CPChem D-3 Brick Additive?
D-3 Brick Additive is a cold water-soluble, modified quebracho tannin intended for use in manufacturing residential and architectural bricks. D-3 Brick Additive reduces the apparent viscosity of the clay during extrusion of the clay column. This leads to reduction in the amount of water required to extrude the clay column and an increase in column strength.
Benefits of Using D-3 Brick Additive
D-3 Brick Additive is used at lower addition rates than other competitive products. The low addition rate and resultant decrease in water addition provides increased operator control on water additions to the pug mill. The product enhances column and green brick strength. Pug mill drive motor amperage is also reduced, resulting in electrical power savings.
Using D-3 Brick Additive
Solution Concentration: D-3 Brick Additive dissolves easily in water. The solution strength can be adjusted as necessary to provide a convenient dosage. A solution containing 65% D-3 Brick Additive in water is easily prepared but approaches the maximum practical viscosity for product handling. A 50% solution is very pourable and easily pumped.
Dosage: D-3 Brick Additive dosage rates will vary depending upon the type of clay. Typical dosages will range from 1 to 4 pounds (0.45 to 1.8 kg) per 1000 bricks. This equates roughly to 0.2 to 0.75 gallons (0.72 to 2.88 liters) of 50% solution per 1000 bricks.
Method of Delivery
D-3 Brick Additive is available in 500 kg (1102 pound) super sacks (bulk bags).
