THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 31, 2006) –Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP’s (Chevron Phillips Chemical) new K-Resin® styrene-butadiene copolymers (SBC) grades offer processors improved options for injection molding applications. The new grades, KR03BR and KR01BR, are product enhancements of the K-Resin® SBC portfolio. Both contain a vegetable-based mold release, exhibit much improved visual clarity, and have an outstanding combination of toughness and stiffness.
“The enhanced optical properties of our new K-Resin® SBC grades make them excellent choices for toys, point-of-purchase displays, media enclosures, and medical devices,” said Kyle Mathis, K-Resin® SBC sales manager. “K-Resin® SBC’s density advantage over alternative high clarity resins makes it a preferred solution for injection molders.”
The mold release additive allows for improved part ejection from the mold (minimizing part sticking), a broader processing window, and potentially improved cycle times.
Each of the grades offers unique properties for customers:
