THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (June 23, 2006) – Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) announced that William D. (Bill) Stanley has been selected as the company’s new general tax counsel, effective June 19.
Stanley, 51, was most recently an executive in residence at Oklahoma State University where he instructed courses in accounting and income taxation after 20-plus years with Phillips Petroleum Company (now ConocoPhillips).
After graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma State University and a juris doctorate from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, Stanley served a year as a tax associate with Arthur Young in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He accepted a position with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1980 as a tax attorney. Following positions of increasing responsibility there, Stanley became tax policy manager in 1995. In 2000, he provided tax counsel for corporate transactions, including the joint venture that formed Chevron Phillips Chemical. Stanley was appointed general tax counsel for Phillips Petroleum Company in July 2000.
