| Chevron Phillips Chemical's normal alpha olefins are easily converted to a number of intermediates for use in cosmetics. Synthetic silicone polymers, for example, can be created by using alpha olefins as an intermediate in alkyl silanes. This is accomplished with the direct addition of silanes to alpha olefins in a reaction called hydrosilation. This is catalyzed by peroxides, UV light or transition metal compounds. These products can be used as humectants in various products.
Chevron Phillips Chemical's normal alpha olefin waxes can provide shine, hardness, or opacity for stand-out new products.
