Chevron Phillips Chemical LP is committed to making optimal use of the resources it consumes, minimizing emissions and waste, and limiting the risks of its products and operations to its customers, employees, and communities. The Company strives to demonstrate responsible environmental policy and practices. Some of our environmental accomplishments include:
- From 2001 to 2005, upset emissions or emissions caused by manufacturing malfunctions, leaks, or emergency discharges from Chevron Phillips Chemical’s Texas facilities have been reduced by 46 percent.
- Overall, Chevron Phillips Chemical will spend more than $165 million in capital improvements at its Texas facilities through 2010. These projects directly relate to complying with environmental regulations and improving energy efficiency.
- For the time period 2000 - 2005, Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions by Chevron Phillips Chemical plants have been reduced by 45 percent. By 2008, Chevron Phillips Chemical NOx emissions in the Houston-Galveston Area will be reduced by 80 percent from the boilers, heaters, and engines, which is in full compliance with Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations.
Additionally, Chevron Phillips Chemical presents two yearly environmental achievement awards The President’s Environmental Award and the Environmental Excellence Award. Both are designed to recognize facilities that have shown exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship and pollution prevention improvements.
It is important to note that while Chevron Phillips Chemical has consistently lowered emissions, production at its Texas facilities has increased. This demonstrates that clean operations and robust production can go hand in hand.
