Chevron Phillips Chemical produces about 8.1 million pounds a year of mixed diethylbenzene (DEB) at its styrene plant in St. James, Louisiana.
How It's Made
Mixed diethylbenzene is a by-product of ethylbenzene production. Mixed diethylbenzene contains about 100% aromatics, based on gas chromatographic analysis.
How It's Transported
Mixed diethylbenzene is shipped directly from the St. James plant. The product is available from Chevron Phillips Chemical via rail car.
What It's Used For
Mixed diethylbenzene may be used as a feedstock for p-diethylbenzene, divinylbenzene, thermal fluids and for high-value solvent applications where aromatizing and narrow boiling range are important.
