Pipe Free™ Spotting Fluid

Pipe Free™ spotting fluid is a specially manufactured product used to release differentially stuck pipe in a quick and easy manner.  This is beneficial because it minimizes loss of drilling time attributed to stuck pipe issues.

Applications:

     This product works by penetrating the wall cake, then dehydrating and cracking it rapidly.  In addition, it breaks the capillary forces in effect.  This product is used in water based mud systems and is totally hydrocarbon free.

Application Procedure:

  1. Add Pipe Free™ spotting fluid to a clean pit and stir for 10 minutes to assure that the mixture is homogenous.  Use as received.  Do not dilute.

  2. If the pill is to be weighted-up, add approximately 4 lb/bbl of organophillic clay and the appropriate amount of barite to achieve the desired density.

  3. Pump an adequate volume of Pipe Free™ spotting fluid pill to completely cover the zone where the pipe is stuck.

  4. Allow 4-6 hours after placing pill to free the pipe.

  5. The pill may simply be incorporated into the water based mud system after the pipe is free.  There is no need to isolate and dispose of it.
