    The Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, Texas is located the heart of the Golden Crescent, a 700-mile strip of the Gulf Coast that produces more than 80 percent of the petrochemicals in the United States. The facility is situated on 1,800 acres of land with 33% devoted to petrochemical manufacturing. The remaining acres are used for special projects and greenspace that acts as a natural buffer between the facility and the community.

    Safety & Environment
    At Chevron Phillips Chemical, safety is the top priority at all of our facilities. The Cedar Bayou facility is a participant in the OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and has been named a Star Site six times. In 2014, OSHA recognized the Cedar Bayou facility as having the most VPP-certified companies at any one site in the nation. There are 12 VPP companies working at the Cedar Bayou facility, including Chevron Phillips Chemical.

As a matter of policy, Chevron Phillips Chemical strives to manufacture, handle, transport and dispose of its chemical product 100% safely. The Texas Chemical Council awarded the Cedar Bayou facility the “Best in Texas” award in 2014 and "Sustained Excellence in Caring for Texas" in 2016 for significant and continuous excellence in safety practices, environmental stewardship and community relations.

    Academic Support
    Chevron Phillips Chemical believes in supporting educational initiatives to help foster interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as other educational endeavors to strengthen the local industry. Academic support includes:

    • Annual sponsorship of the Junior Achievement (JA) Inspire event for 3,400 8th graders in the Greater Baytown and West Chambers County areas.
    • Annual sponsorship of the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) mobile science trailer to 1,700 6th graders at every Baytown middle school.
    • Annual sponsorship of Goose Creek Memorial High School's Global Business Academy.
    • Annual donation to the Barbers Hill ISD Scholarship Association. In 2016, $22,000 was donated.
    • $70,000 donated to Lee College for scholarships that pay 50% tuition and 100% of books for students studying process technology, instrumentation technology, and electrical technology.
    • Mentoring, and Co-Op opportunities for Lee College students studying process technology, instrumentation technology, and electrical technology
