    The Bartlesville Research & Technology Center is home to the world-renown Plastics Technical Center – a technical service and application support resource for customers worldwide. The facility houses commercial-scale machines that facilitate training, trials and product development. One of the world’s most common plastics, high density polyethylene (HDPE), was discovered at this location. HDPE is a vital part of everyday items such as milk jugs, plastic pipe, detergent bottles, pails and more.

    Originally built by Phillips 66 in 1950, the Bartlesville Research & Technology Center is the company’s largest research center in the world. The facility employs more than 190 chemists, scientists and technicians.

    Employees at the Bartlesville facility focus on the research and development of new chemicals and plastics and work to improve existing chemicals and processes. They also provide hands-on technical support for customers around the globe. The facility supports the global polyethylene, normal alpha olefins, Drilling Specialties and specialty chemicals product lines.
