Vice President, Human Resources

Greg A. Wagner is Vice President of Human Resources for Chevron Phillips Chemical.

Wagner served for 29 years in various technical, finance and human resource roles with increasing responsibility at Chevron Corporation, prior to joining Chevron Phillips Chemical in 2012.

Most recently, he served as the vice president of human resources for Downstream & Chemicals for Chevron Corporation. In that position, he was responsible for overseeing the human resource function for Chevron’s worldwide refining, marketing, supply and trading, lubricants and chemical additives operations.

Wagner began his human resource career in 1990 as an organization analyst for Chevron Corporation. In 1992, he was named supervisor of organization, compensation, employment and systems for Chevron Petroleum Technology Company. Then in 1995, he was named manager of human resources and training processes. In this role Wagner was instrumental in the creation of key processes such as performance and salary management, resource optimization and strategic staffing. In 1997, he served as the manager of learning and development for Chevron’s three technology companies.

Wagner joined Chevron’s Pascagoula Refinery as the manager of human resources in 1997 and in 1999 became the manager of organization and human development. In 2003, he was named manager of business services at Pascagoula where he had responsibility for human resources, finance, procurement, public affairs, training and development, and administrative services. In 2003, he moved to San Ramon, California, to assume the position of manager of global refining, and in 2007, he became the general manager of human resources global shared services. Then, in 2009, he was named vice president of Human Resources for Downstream & Chemicals.

A native of Findlay, Ohio, Wagner earned a Bachelor of Science in geology in 1982 from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Business Administration from Houston Baptist University in 1987.
