Isoprene feedstock is produced by Chevron Phillips Chemical at its plants in Cedar Bayou and Sweeny, Texas.

How It's Made

Isoprene feedstock is a byproduct of ethylene production.

What It's Used For

Isoprene feedstock is used to produce isoprene, which is used to make polyisoprene rubber for tires. The stream also contains piperylene, which is used to produce copolymerization elastomers, petroleum resins, curing agents, pesticides and perfumes.

How It's Transported

Isoprene feedstock is transported by truck from the Houston Ship Channel or by tank car from Sweeny.
