Typical Physical Characteristics

Normal alpha olefins, from C₄ to C₃₀₊ carbon lengths, are high-quality intermediates. They are straight-chain hydrocarbons with a double bond in the terminal position. At ambient conditions, C₄ is a gaseous product and C₆ through C₁₈ are clear water-white liquids with a distinctive olefinic odor. The C₂₀₊ products are solid at room temperature and have a white waxy appearance.
